To face the increasing energy demand, the European Union is funding the development of energy infrastructures through a new call for proposals : CEF.
750 millions € to strengthen the energy infrastructures
The European Union’s energy infrastructures require development and updates, to answer potential risks in the supply chain:
- Increasing demand
- More difficult supply
- Increasing environmental impact.
The European Union wants to address these issues, through its « CEF Energy » program, by supporting the development and the implementation of projects in the electricity (including smart grids), gas and transboundary carbon dioxide networks.
With a budget of € 750 million, this call for projects aims to strengthen the access to energy, improve the consistency of supply, support and integrate renewable resources and promote the creation of smart grids. Proposals must be submitted no later than 13 June 2019.
The expected porpositions
Two kinds of proposals are expected:
- Feasibility studies; to determine and decide on a project financing and/or design through mapping activities, evaluations, tests and validation studies.
- Works; consisting of the purchase and installation of materials and services, such as the construction of a transmission line.
